Frequently Asked Questions

Is permanent makeup really permanent?

Even though the name suggests that permanent makeup lasts forever, it actually doesn't. Cosmetic tattooing is done with PMU pigments, rather than traditional body art inks. These pigments are formulated in such a way that the body dissolves them over a period of several years, meaning they fade over time if they're not touched up and refreshed.

Another factor that makes PMU only semi-permanent is the very shallow depth at which it's implanted. The pigments are deposited into the uppermost layers of the skin, and will eventually fade with the natural cycle of skin cell rejuvenation.

Does it hurt?

Pain is subjective and varies from client to client. A topical anesthetic will be applied during the procedure to alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Past clients have compared their experience to threading and expressed minimal to no pain.

NOTE: You may be more sensitive during the time of your menstrual cycle.

Is it safe?

Sure! In our studio, we use sterilized, single-use needles and supplies. In addition, your artist is BBP certified.

I’m going on vacation or I have a special event coming up. When should I book my appointment?

We recommend you book your appointment at least 3-4 months prior to your vacation or special event. This allows for proper precare, aftercare/healing time, and a follow-up appointment if needed.

What are some of the risks, possible complications and/or consequences of receiving a cosmetic tattoo?

Some of the complications and consequences associated with these types of cosmetic tattooing procedures include but are not limited to: pain, redness, swelling, bruising, bleeding, allergic reactions, infection, permanent scarring, inconsistent color, color spreading, fading or loss of pigment, and in some cases, skin pigmentation will be permanent. Also, the actual color of the pigment may be modified slightly due to the tone and color of the individual's skin.

What should I expect during my appointment?

Please be prepared to sit or lay down for up to four hours, so dress comfortably and eat prior to your appointment. We will not rush or be asked to complete the service by a certain time, so plan your day accordingly.

Consultation (approx. 2 hrs with mapping) - During this time, we will complete and review your consultation paperwork. Please make sure to bring your government issued ID for age verification. We will then discuss your brow dream including your desired service, color/shape preferences, and aftercare instructions. If you have any reference photos, please bring them to your appointment. You may also come with your brows filled in as you would normally apply your brow makeup. Your brows will be cleaned thoroughly prior to the start of the mapping process.

Mapping/Pre-draw - Our #1 goal is to make your brow dream a reality, and we want to ensure you have the most beautiful and realistic results as possible. We will collaborate on creating the best brow shape for your bone structure and facial features. The procedure will not begin until you’ve agreed and consented to your new shape. After mapping is complete, you will have an opportunity to take a quick break if needed.

**PMU procedures are time sensitive, so unfortunately frequent breaks will not be allowed.

Procedure - Procedure times vary by client and are dependent on the number of passes (layers) needed to complete the desired look. Passes are dependent on each client’s skin type and saturation preference. Some clients will pre-numb for 15-30 minutes prior to the start their procedure. ALL clients will receive secondary numbing once the skin has been broken.

Photos/Videos (approx. 30 mins) - Before and after photos are required per our insurance for documentation purposes. Photos will be taken prior to mapping/pre-draw (bare brows), immediately after mapping/pre-draw, and immediately after your completed service. Photos and/or videos may also be used for educational and marketing purposes (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc).

Can you guarantee your work?

Unfortunately, NO GUARANTEES can be made as cosmetic tattooing is an art, and not an exact science. You and your artist will work closely together to ensure the best possible results, but no guarantees are made. It is not possible to predict how the skin will react in each individual, since there are many factors that can affect the outcome such as: skin type, lifestyle, proper aftercare, tanning bed/sun exposure, exfoliating, facial products used, medical conditions and overall health.

NOTE: Please carefully take into account the permanent nature and all aspects of the process before booking.
